Bio – Jerry Watts Jr.

JERRY WATTS, Bass

One of the Industry’s most in-demand bass players, with 3 wins and 10 Grammy Nominations under his belt, Jerry Watts has toured in 45 countries with artists of all genres.

He developed a proprietary “non-plectrum” guitar style, working with Michael Henderson (Miles Davis’ bassist/singer) right out of high school.

His work has been linked with such artists and musical lights as Andy Summers (The Police), Billy Idol, Dave Stewart, Herbie Hancock, Ginger Baker (Cream) Keith Emerson (ELP) Pat Leonard, Peter Cetera, Stephen Bishop, Bobby Caldwell, Dr. John, Jefferson Starship, Joe Farrell, Keiko Matsui, Renee Olstead, The Wilsons, Toni Childs, and numerous others.

He’s played on hundreds of soundtracks, and frequently for TV and film projects.

"But for me, it’s as simple as, I love music, and bass playing, and with that said, I’m always trying to create the best music I can.
So it seems to me that whatever it is that you're hearing in your head,
whatever it is that you want to express with your heart and your instrument,
should and will be dictated by the music."
